🌐About Organization:

The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program is an initiative administered by the U.S. Department of State in partnership with a consortium of non-profit organizations, primarily led by the American Councils for International Education. Established with the aim of promoting cultural exchange, fostering mutual understanding, and advancing U.S. foreign policy objectives, the YES program has been instrumental in facilitating academic exchanges for high school students from countries strategically important to the United States.

Through a rigorous, merit-based selection process, the YES program identifies promising young leaders and provides them with the opportunity to spend an academic year in the United States. During their stay, participants live with American host families, attend local high schools, engage in community service projects, and participate in civic education activities. These experiences not only contribute to their personal growth but also facilitate the formation of lasting ties between participants and the American people.

Since its inception in 2003, the YES program has welcomed thousands of students from over 45 countries, including those with significant Muslim populations. These students serve as "youth ambassadors," representing their home countries and cultures while also learning about American society and values. Through cultural exchange and dialogue, the YES program aims to promote mutual understanding and respect between nations.

In addition to its core exchange activities, the YES program also emphasizes inclusivity and accessibility. It actively encourages the participation of students with disabilities and collaborates with organizations like Mobility International (MIUSA) to provide necessary support and resources to ensure their success during their time in the United States.

The YES program's impact extends beyond the academic year, as alumni continue to serve as ambassadors of goodwill in their home countries, leveraging their experiences to promote cross-cultural understanding and cooperation. By fostering meaningful connections and empowering youth leaders, the YES program plays a vital role in building bridges between nations and shaping a more interconnected and harmonious world.
